3D Design: Spaghetti Structures
Our next and final day project was similar to our previous ones. We were assigned to create small structures out of raw spaghetti and a glue gun that would ultimately hold three plastic balls.
After some experimental ideas, I began my structure like this, above. I made three of these cross hatching and glued and secured them together in a triangular form. Below.
Though a difficult and interesting task, my structure was successful in holding the three balls in more than one way, meaning I could place the structure on a different side, for example, and with some moving around of the balls, still be able to hold each of the plastic balls.
We set up our structures and photographed them properly, above, and then placed them all together as a group to get an overall view of everyone's individual work and ideas. Which showed that though we were all completing the same task, everyone's approach was vastly different and very interesting.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 3DD week, as I said before I was unsure whether I would actually do well in it, but I found it to be a lot of fun and very useful when it came to discovering new ideas, ways to draw and come up with ideas. Though I may not pursue 3DD further, the skills I learnt and gained from the week will definitely be used throughout my artwork, regardless of the pathway.
